What is family?

The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.
 RICHARD BACH, Illusions

...there are a select few who I consider my family...yet are of no blood relation to me...our love and mutual respect for one another are a true testament to what a family should be, and how lucky am I to have these people to call my family in addition to those who are my family...in blood...I am very lucky!

Born This Way by LG

I think Lady Gaga is a bit strange and sometimes I feel like she tries too hard to be eccentric...but I LOVE her music! This is the new song that my girls and I jam to in the car...and by girls, I mean my daughters who are seven and two...

Parenting...

My emotions tend to get the better of me at times...especially on things I feel strongly about...and I feel strongly about MANY things...

...I am not too fond of card games, and my husband LOVES it!  So one day my seven year old  daughter Parris and I were discussing "it"

Me:  Parris, when you get older I don't want you to smoke or play cards ok?
Parris:  Why mommy because you don't like it?
Me:  Yes,  you follow me...because I don't smoke or play cards ...
Parris:  Okay mommy, I'll follow you and not daddy because he smokes...
Me:  Yes, I don't even know why he smokes when he didn't smoke when we were just dating...or even when you were a baby...
Parris:  Well, maybe he's just following HIS parents...
Me:  Yes, maybe....followed by...my own laughter....

Kids really do say the darnest things!!!  Raw and truthful...and my daughter Parris is very raw...and tells it like it is...I just had to laugh!

Blog hiatus

It has been quite a while since I have blogged for many reasons, inclusive of laziness...it has also been quite a busy month or two at work and that has consumed most of my time.

I've been thinking of re-defining my blog because for a while, I felt that nothing interesting was worth blogging about...nothing out of the ordinary with my little babies...or at work...or just in general.  I always look to other blogs for inspiration and this week, I stumbled on The Sartorialist and found some inspiration.  I work in retail, the biggest in our island...many interesting people walk in our store, and by interesting, I mean their fashion choices...most are Japanese...even more interesting...but really there are a myriad of people from different places that come to our store, or our island for that matter!  I thought that maybe I could blog through pictures...but then I thought...would I really have the time at work to take photos, when I should be working???  So this is still in the works...but definitely there will be some slight changes...stay tuned...

DIY Project Completion...well almost...

Our DIY project that was slated to finish in two weekends, three tops, stretched to months...I didn't even want to count anymore because it would just frustrate me.  My "contractor" a.k.a. hubby, had quite a relaxed work ethic when it came to our project...but I am thrilled to announce that it has finally been completed!  Well, for the most part...there are few finishing touches that needs to be made, but we are all moved in to our "place."  We just basically closed off a section of the huge living room...and now our daughter Parris is enjoying her space, away from her little sister.  She's very happy...

here is Parris in her new room...it's not quite finished yet...we still have to paint...

...and of course, baby Paige had to pose with sissy...

A DIY Project

In mid October, my husband began a DIY project with the help of his good friend.  This project was supposed to take two weekends, max!  Well, as I type today, it is NOT done...and I actually started to help him with some of it.  On Saturday, I wake up to find him watching football instead of "working" and I decided to give him a hand...well guess what?  A job that he had been putting off for some time, took me less than two hours to finish!

Let's see what happens this weekend...because I might just finish everything on my own...
